travel europe greece the island of santorini/thira oia around oia
Oia is a beautiful town strung out along the cliff at the northwest end of the crescent shaped caldera island of Santorini.
Most of the structures are white-washed with bright blue roofs or accents.
Narrow stone alleyways connect them in a way that it often hard to tell where one property ends and the next begins.
Most of the buildings are on the side of the ridge that faces the volcano's caldera to the south and are known for their spectacular views of the sunset.
Around the tip of the ridge, facing west towards the island called Thirasia that forms the west part of the caldera, is another beautiful neighborhood of Oia.
We had a good lunch here in Oia at a restaurant called Lotza that hung over the caldera and provided spectacular views.
